Dave Grohl and Eddie Vedder are among the artists who have donated exclusive, autographed instruments and other items to the annual MusiCares auction, in conjunction with Aerosmith being honored as MusiCares Persons of the Year.
The Foo Fighters leader has signed a Gibson Hummingbird acoustic guitar with floral, bird, and butterfly motifs on the pick guard, estimated to be worth $5,000 to $7,000. Meanwhile the Pearl Jam singer has signed a Pono Mahogany Tenor labeled ukulele with hand drawings in silver and black marker, also valued at $5,000 to $7,000.
The members of Aerosmith themselves are donating numerous signed instruments and other items, as well as a VIP trip to see the band's residency in Las Vegas, while other artists contributing signed items include Halsey, Taylor Swift, The Who's Pete Townshend, the estate of Tom Petty, Carlos Santana, Fleetwood Mac and more.
Julien's Auctions is behind the online auction, which began advance bidding on December 27th for registered bidders unable to attend the MusiCares Person Of The Year benefit gala on January 24th in Los Angeles. The real time auction starts at 11:00 a.m. PT on the day of the gala.
The MusiCares event will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where artists such as Foo Fighters, Alice Cooper, Gary Clarke Jr, John Mayer, John Legend, H.E.R., Emily King, Jonas Brothers and Yola will pay tribute to Aerosmith.
