Rod Stewart revealed that after a few years of snide remarks, he and old friend Elton John are back on good terms, according to The Daily Mail. The pair, who have spent decades winding each other up with good natured barbs and elaborate pranks, came to a head when Rod publicly slammed Elton's "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour, intimating it was a cash grab.
Rod appeared on The Harry Redknapp Show podcast, and shed light on the situation, explaining that the two are "mates again" and adding, "I was a bit spiteful when he announced his tour. I regret it, I really do regret it. So we're mates again now. I do love him. A man apologizes. We've just made up as friends again, me and Elton. We've always been fierce enemies. . . through the years, but it's always been at a playful level. But we had the worst row, like a married couple. It went on forever."
Rod, the 76-year-old father of eight, talked candidly about his health, revealing, "I've just had a full knee replacement and I've also had an ankle fusion — all thanks to football."
Although a raucous partier back in the 1970's heyday of the Faces, Rod maintains an even keel at home and even on the road: "I like to box on the big bag in my gym, but after a gig these days I'll order four of five bottles of red wine a bottle of Bacardi, it's mostly for the band. They always come back to my dressing room for a celebration after every gig."
He went on to speak about getting knighted at Buckingham Palace back in 2016: "It was a proud moment though. I wish my dad had seen it. I went to the palace, got pissed (drunk) at lunchtime."
Rod Stewart explained that he's never once considered giving up recording and performing: ["You never outgrow hits, I mean, it's always a big thrill to ya. I'm a committed musician. I love it. I love makin' music, I really love gettin' up and singin' for people. I see the smiling faces and you go home and you think you've sent them all home happy."] SOUNDCUE (:11 OC: . . . all home happy)
